Black Sails...anybody watched it? Thoughts?

I watched the first episode and am catching up on the second one right now. I thought the high production values and setting/time period really draw me in, but there's no characters that have I really like yet nor has the writing seemed great to me. I'll continue the season until it gives me a reason to stop. I give it a 6/6.5. Anybody else got an opinion on it?

Maybe the hype was too much. I've watched both episodes so far and not as drawn in as I expected.

I watched the first episode. It was ok. Typical Michael Bay and Starz fare. Lots of absurd action/blood and lots of titties. Starz is modeling itself after the 1980s Cinemax mold. The writing wasn't all that great. But it's target audience probably is pretty basic. So it works in that respect.

like all of you, I appreciated the scenery (tits) and the effort, but the writing is lacking and not really getting my attention. Its not bad (yet), just not hooking me like House of Lies, True Detective, etc.

Love it. If it's not Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, then most everyone on here is going to say "It sucks" or "not that great"

I don't like it as much as I thought I would. I was expecting a Pirate version of Spartacus, but have been disappointed so far. Nice scenery though.

For me, Black Sails is like The Walking Dead...it's not really that good, the obvious writing issues annoy me, but I'll still watch....and probably look forward to it every week.

I wasn't impressed at all by the first episode, gonna watch the second one tonight and see if improves.
