You couldn't have put this shitty post in one of the other two threads?

Just watched it.
Are people really upset about this or is this like the fake outrage about the interracial Cheerios commercial from last year where they put a little too much stock into racist YouTube videos comments..you know, where there is a racist comment on basically every video.

As a Cajun from New Iberia I can tell you that the use of Cajun French in Cajun lyrics is totally meaningless.
The music is great. Two step, fast or slow, squeeze box, fiddle. But the French words only have to rhyme with no real meaning. IE:
"My dog died today
Momma is laying in some hay
I don't think it's very good
Gonna go chop some wood."

You're completely wrong. French is a first world Western language from a first world nation that had a hand in winning US independence.

Its not Spanish so nobody gives a rats arse. Cajuns were already discriminated against and forced to abandon their language many years ago. Thank Luther Hall for that.

You don't see anybody trying to make Cajun French the de facto language of the United States like some are with beanspeak.

Are you saying Cajun French is not spoken outside of cajun songs or that you can only sing with it in a non cajun song in that style?
Cajun French is dead as a doornail in terms of today's usage. The accent is still very heavy. My cousin speaks Cajun English and I guarantee you that you couldn't understand a word he says without a translator. He makes Justin Wilson sound like Shakespeare.

I know quite a few people that speak constantly in cajun french. Its dead to younger generations but people that grew up just after the government started to forced it out of them still often use it. I would say in the next 20 years it will definitlt be dead with the government not giving a rats arse that it killed part of a culture.

Well...there is a culture war raging for sure; and just like with the Duck Dynasty thing, whether or not Coke is out of touch with the majority, and will be punished for taking sides in that war is likely to be manifest in the market. They will know soon enough. Everybody will.

The sad thing is reading how some people go from ignorant to blatantly stupid.
"God-fearing" Americans who get upset at a multi-cultural (and respectful) rendition of that song are truly more lost than those shiny Truck Nutz lead on.

Thank You! I've been telling people in Shreveport that for years and they thought I was nuts.
