I swore all last season I'd take Cabrera next year if I had the 1st pick. Well, I won the consolation playoff bracket last season so the 1st pick is mine. Except now I'm pretty sure I'm going with Trout #1 even though I told myself I would take Cabrera.

It's just too hard to pass up Trout when he will likely have 30-40 stolen bases on top of his power.

Right?

Take 5 categories over 4. Trout

Exactly my thoughts. His stolen bases are ridiculous and out weigh Cabrera's HR/RBI advantage.

I'd take trout over Cabrera from now on just because of the age factor. All things being equal id take Cabrera but you never know when Cabreras numbers will start to slip.

Yeah

This is a redraft league so owning Cabrera year to year won't hurt you. You don't fall off after b2b MVP, triple crown seasons.

I mean, just off last year Cabrera compared to Trout

- 6 R
+ 17 HR
+40 RBI
+ .25 BAvg
- 30 SB

So essentially you want a guy who will get you steals at the expense of HR and RBI, which are the hardest cats to fill. If the steals are that important to you, draft Billy Hamilton in the 10th round. He will double Trout's SB and could score 100 runs himself... or Andrus etc. Steals are cheap.

That is why I am keeping Billy Hamilton, and I want all of my other bats to have pop.

Trout's a beast, too. You obviously can't go wrong.

But if i am not forced to keep one, I probably take Cabrera in redraft leagues until he shows signs of slowing down.

Yeah I plan to be all over Hamilton if possible. You think the 10th round would be the earliest to grab him?

I always draft heavy on the bats in the early rounds so I need to start putting my list together of all the "sleeper-underrated-overlooked" bargain pitchers.

So any SP's you have a feeling about or some young talent that will likely be in a rotation before long... feel free to let me know.

I realize your fellow league foes are on TD, but I know you can't resist sharing some info.

If you really want Hamilton, you better plan on taking him before the 10th.

I feel like his ADP will be somewhere around 50-60.

I don't think he's worth going in there, but some people will more than likely take him in that range.

Yeah that's why I asked what y'all thought. He isn't my must have player this year or anything, but I am targeting him in the 8th round if things work out that way.

I just threw out the 10th round. I have no idea where he will go because like redd said, someone will overdraft him.

could be the next dee gordon for all we know

Right on.

I find that winning in steals every week will tip the scales quite often during close matchups, along with saves obviously.

Trout and Hamilton would be a great combo for any roster and I'd be set in the steals department. If I draft Trout, I may reach for Hamilton. We will see I guess.

Yeah, I'm not convinced he's going to get on base enough to be worth what people are expecting.

I don't think he'll hit .275+ and his career minor league BB/K ratio wouldn't rank in the top 70 players in the majors last year. Not bad but not enticing enough for me to spend a top 8 round pick on him.

So what you're saying is VKC is dumb for keeping him in SBL?
