The bash has been advertised on the radio as free this year, but I also see that they are charging to get a table and to get into the actual room. My question is what is the difference between just going to L'Auberge and hanging out and buying a seat at a table, will everyone still have access to the silent auctions and the different vendors or will you need a ticket for those ?

The details I heard were that it's obviously free to enter casino, and all of the tvs in the building will have AV feeds from the main hall where the bash is. Also said they will be having some coaches and former players available to the public @ the stadium sports bar that's inside, which is open to all...presumably autographs/pics/q&a sessions. Not sure about the auctions so you may want to call the casino.

ETA this is just what mascona was advertising on his show this past week, I don't have any inside details or the like.

If you've been to a concert in the room where the tables will set up you'd know the deal. Outside of the room is a huge lobby area where the media and booths will be setup. That lobby area is free to everyone. I have it on good authority that the doors will be thrown open when Les and the coaches talk that afternoon. So go and have a good time you should see everything worth seeing.

I think this is the beginning of the end for the bash. There's really very little surprise in signing since they all declare early during some game on ESPN. It doesn't even start this year until 1030. Most letters are already faxed. No free food or drink unless you've paid for a VIP table or you're gambling. I hope I'm wrong and it's better than it sounds.

This was all I was thinking while reading the link.

They needed to move because of the lack of revenue to afford/justify the Rivercenter, and L'Auberge is kinda desperate and offering it for free.

Compound that with the fact they they have now removed general admission and it will only get worse.

RIP

L'auberge is often at 100% capacity, even on random weekends when nothing is going on(they actually have a problem with overbooking quite often). And the casino is pretty full just about every weekend. So I highly doubt L'auberge is desperate, but rather just not passing on an opportunity to pick up an annual even that will bring people to the casino. I don't know a single hotel that would pass up an opportunity to fill up an empty day with even a moderately attended event. It doesn't cost the hotel much to put it on.

To be honest this is probably the best way to keep the Bayon Bash going, if it gets boring there is plenty to do near by.
