Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch

MORGAN CITY, LA.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch has died, according to a news release from Morgan City Police Spokesman Lt. James Blair.
"It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that the City of Morgan City and the Morgan City Police Department announce the unexpected death of the Morgan City Police Chief Travis A. Crouch," the release stated.
Mayor Frank "Boo" Grizzaffi and Assistant Police Chief Michael Banks will conduct a news conference to answer questions at 2 p.m. today in Morgan City at the City Court Building, located at 723 Myrtle Street (Corner of Myrtle Street and La. 182), the release stated.
"Out of respect for family members, we ask that all questions be addressed at that time. We appreciate your cooperation," the release stated.

Biloxi PD confirms that Chief Crouch was the victim of a single gunshot wound. An investigation is underway; foul play is not suspected.
MCPD has notified the family of Chief Crouch of his passing, and will do "everything possible" to help them through this difficult time.
Following Civil Service guidelines, Mayor Frank Grizzaffi named Assistant Chief Michael Bank as interim Police Chief. The mayor and city council will begin the process of hiring a new chief at a later time.
Funeral arrangements, and plans for a public memorial service for Chief Crouch will be announced as they become available.

Biloxi police Sergeant Chris DeBack said officers responded to a reported shooting at the casino shortly after 11 p.m. Investigators discovered Morgan City Chief of Police, Travis A. Crouch, in his hotel room with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy Saturday morning confirmed that Crouch shot himself. Investigators said the shooting could have been accidental.
