Rand Paul Skirts Senate Rules

Some rules are worth skirting!
quote:
“Because of Senate rules [Paul] wasn’t able to keep his practice for profit but … to keep his skills honed and well as to be able to continue to practice, the only way he’s able to do that is if he does it as pro bono work,” Paul’s communication director, Moira Bagley, told POLITICO. “So there are various eye clinics around the state that will donate their facilities, and their nurses, and their follow-up appointments, their equipment for Dr. Paul to come and perform surgeries on pre-screened candidates.”
The senator views it as a way to give back to Kentucky and tries to do the pro bono surgeries about four or five times each year.
“Most of these surgeries are for cataracts, and these are people that don’t have insurance, that are low-income cases. … I’d say a lot of them are elderly but he’s been doing this since he came to Congress as a way to continue to practice and to … give back to the state,” she said, adding that Paul has done surgeries from Pikeville to Paducah and places in between.

He would make such a good President. He leads by example, not rhetoric
BTW nice thread title. Libs will enter thread with a boner and leave with blue balls.

It would be cool as shite for him to be POTUS and still doing surgeries every now and then. That woud be unheard of and so awesome.
Literally a presidential surgeon...

Exactly what this country needs, and probably why he will never be president.

I would bet there are at least 2000 lib lawyers searching thru files trying to come up with filth on him. They'll probably say its against the constitution or something like that. You know the document they so fondly like to shred?
When Obama's baby the "affordable care act" finally runs all doctors out of practice, maybe Paul will be necessary as an underground doc to perform surgery on Obama.

Man ya'll prove again to be so eager to find a hero to worship. Dude is not doing this because he is a good man (he may well be but this has nothing to do with it) he is doing it so he will be able to continue to practice should he somehow fail or decide to get out of politics. Very smart move on his part as a medical license is not exactly easy to come by and probably difficult to reinstate. I haven't used my state license or my union ticket in more than 8 years in the case of the former and more than 17 in the case of the latter yet I keep both current and satisfy the continuing education requirements for both for the same reason that Paul performs enough surgeries to stay in condition should he fall back to his chosen trade.

His motivation to perform can be multi faceted.
He maintains his license. He gives back to the community.
If he does not stay current, the community loses.
To be able to perform outside of his political career is good planning. An admirable trait for a leader.

Good for him.
Let's hope he's a better surgeon than thinker, though.

quote:First off, the OP has nothing whatsoever to do with Paul maintaining medical licensure. Nothing. You are popping off once again on subjects you know nothing about. Second, if you'd like to draw further equivalence between a medical license and a union ticket, start a thread. I am certain there would be interest.

Are you most upset with Rand's advocacy to protect citizens privacy from the NSA or protecting us from the use of Drones without a trial to kill us?
