Can't confirm the second half of that, but c'mon, it's happening.

1 year around 6 million.

the bigger question is can we trade the orioles their pitcher back for great return?

Also hammel can earn 1million in incentives. So possibly 7 million all said and done. I'm good with that, typical cubs type move right now, but a good deal.

Would have like to have taken a stab at trading malholm twice though.

Hammel for Gausman straight up at the break. Make it happen lol

Off topic- Do you think Travis Wood can replicate his success from last year?

Yes. Dude really seemed like he learned how to pitch last season. He realized his only way of getting people out is to hit his spots all day long.

I do. Mainly becuase he started having that success towards the end of 2012, and looked sharp at times while with the Reds. I don't think he'll ever be dominate, but I also don't think 2013 was a fluke.

Yeah he was great last year. Hopefully the pen can step it up and actually salvage some of his great starts.

Strop was pretty electric at times last year

4.50 xFIP for Wood in 2013.

I would be shocked if his ERA is below 3.65 - still a solid guy if he's under 3.85

I really like Strop. He was damn nasty at times. I wish he would win the closers job and hold it down for when the Cubs plan on being good again.

Hard not to agree with and like this statement.

I would think that the job is Veras to lose only because i'm not sure that strop is ready to close. I also like him in the multi inning relief role.

Hammel was solid for the 1st half of the season 2 years ago. He was their ace starter, but this has Edwin Jackson written all over it.
