New RFD given out this month.

One of the top concepts is
quote:

The Paidia Company, a Baton Rouge-based entertainment development group, has put forth a proposal to bring Jazzland back. Under their plan, the 150-acre site would include a theme park, a water park, and a movie studio that would “allow for car chase scenes, pyrotechnics and other stunt work that needs a controlled environment for safety.”

If they can use the film tax credits to secure the studio, everything else is easy. The rides can be refurbished, buildings can be painted. New rides and buildings built.

I wish Dominion would invest in it, they build all those parks in Ohio with the insane rollercoasters.

I just can't see this being an economically feasible option.

Makes good sense, actually.

That place was such a shite hole. The thing I remember most was black asphalt with no shade in July.

I heard Bo Luke was opening up a movie studio in Louisiana. He said he wants to be Louisiana version of Tyler Perry.

New Orleans east can't support that. There are still thousands of abandon houses there and they want to put an amusement park?

Here is a suggestion. Take whoever is responsible for stealing the federal money that was set aside to clean up the east and hang them from the top of the roller coaster .

Funny how every generation in NOLA at one time had a theme park and then it went away.

Our generation - Jazzland/ Six Flags NOLA
My Dad's generation - Pontchartrain park
Great Grand parents - Milneberg and The Point on the lake.

It's because the East is so big. Bigger than the rest of New Orleans actually, and has so few residents. Some areas have cleaned up significantly since Katrina. There are some nice areas actually off of Reed and Bullard. But the idea is to draw people from around the area, and then hopefully start building up areas around it.
If you look at most theme parks in the country, they were built on the outskirts of cities. Disneyworld was built in an undeveloped swamp.

Now I get comparing Jazzland to Disney or even Astroworld (RIP) is laughable. But it gave the people in this area an option. Now they can just put in more shade, and misters and it would be fine.

People will go, on average NOLA residents have more disposable income now, than Katrina. Also new barriers and levees should protect against another Katrina.
