I was thinking a UCLA/Oregon matchup would get him in rare form.

I'll never forget that 13 minute continuous rant he had on that radio show the day of the UCLA-LSU final four matchup a few years ago.

I've never heard someone say so much while saying so little in my entire life.

Yeah this guy is unbearable. He was talking about some story about twins switching roles in class for so long that the other commentator had to remind him to start talking about the game.

The other night they were debating who the best conference was. He said the PAC-12 because AZ was ranked #1, and went on a rant about how about half the conference is coming along. The commentator said something about other conferences and all Walton could say was "the PAC-12 has the #1 ranked team!!" As if that is the only criteria for conference strength (despite the fact that no one else is ranked). Once again the other guy had to step in and say "I'm not arguing with you"

But that's what's great about him. He's a relic. He says whatever the frick is on his mind. A lot of times he has great insights into basketball and life. Sometimes it's incoherent nonsense.

John Madden did this all the time, so did Harry Caray.

The best part tonight was Bill saying, "Name me one Big 10 conference city you would want to live in."

Did he mean the actual towns in which which the schools are located? Or cities in the region?

B10 towns consistently rate among the best in the country and will continue to do so in the future because of the schools they harbor. Madison, Ann Arbor, Iowa City and Bloomington might not be the first names that come to mind when you think about exciting cities. But I've had great times in all four places, much more so than in a typical D1 Football Town.

And while UCLA/USC/CAL/Stanford/Washington all are located in 'great' cities, I personally dislike LA and find Seattle to be perfectly meh.

The Bay Area is pretty solid, no doubt. But, besides SF, I would put Chicago and Minneapolis above any other PAC10 city. C-Bus is pretty bland, basically a generic mid-large metropolis. Still better than a desert wasteland like Tempe, imo.

Boils down to preference, I guess. Chicago's treated me well.

That never gets old. I like when he starts, "It was 201 years ago today..." And Tirico says something like, "Oh jesus" under his breath.

bill walton is funny for like four minutes. If you have to listen to a whole game with him its pretty bad.
