God forbid that adults willing to learn a skill, and adults willing to teach them, get together without a license.

A handful of California coding bootcamps are fighting for survival after receiving a stern warning from regulators.

Unless they comply, these organizations face imminent closure and a hefty $50,000 fine. A BPPE spokesperson said these organizations have two weeks to start coming into compliance.

BPPE, a unit in the California Department of Consumer Affairs, is arguing that the bootcamps fall under its jurisdiction and are subject to regulation. BPPE is charged with licensing and regulating postsecondary education in California, including academic as well as vocational training programs.

I'm gonna go with the first part being true. The 2nd part is just a cover.

I can see both sides of this. The state obviously doesn't want any a-hole with a laptop charging $15,000+ for a 10 week course, but at the same time it's insane to make them go through the full accreditation process of colleges and vocational schools.

I think there should be some streamlined accreditation process for these type of bootcamps.

If you are too stupid to yelp them before handing over 15k, you deserve to lose your 15k.
