I'm invited on a trip to Delacroix Friday thru Sunday. Sunday weather looks bad but Saturday looks fine. I have fished down there a lot but not since last May . Any reports or recommendation? Driving from NE La .

Oak River was hot before all the freeze nonsense if you could get away from the boats. Haven't heard much the last couple days other than Yscloskey Bridge.

Not sure how the fishing will be . Going from the freeze this week to the 60s. Any body have experience at this? I can remember winter fishing down there catching trout and reds with the rod eyes freezing up but I've never fished right after the temps went up.

You better be in the boat between 12:22 pm and 3:48 pm each day. Isolunar has these days rated as "4 fish days". This means you won't even need bait or hooks. All you need is to be close to the water.

Thanks for the tip, 4. Easy to pack without worrying about rods etc. I am borrowing a tennis racket to slap their asses into the Ice chest when they jump in the boat. Hands stay clean and dry like that.

Damn. We are down to 2 people now. Sunday forecast , depending on source calls fro 50 to 80 chance of thundershowers. Leaves only Saturday to fish. decided its not worth it. We made the executive decision to not go. I am disappoint.
Oh well I spent a good day anticipating. And the year is young!

Damnit hate to hear that. I'm an hour or so away from Delacroix. I could've met you down there for a Saturday fish for sure. I may just drive down there and park my truck on the side of the marsh around 1:30pm and load it up with leaping reds.

My buddy and I are probably going to drive down and try to catch some reds from the bank on Saturday too.

Current water temps down there low 40's. South wind and a little sunshine will help the cause but it's unlikely many trout will be caught until water has a chance to get above 50. Reds should be be easy though.

4 and tigershark I hope y'all wear em out. Please let me know. Redfish, thanks for the post. That's pretty much what my bud said. He keeps a boat down there and fishes pretty regularly
and checks weather tides and temps daily.
It just wasn't worth the trip for one day of red fishing from up here in NELa.

My buddy blanked at the Y-canal today. Looks like the warmer temps and fishing pressure moved them along.

Easiest fishing IMO. Find shallow water (no problem in Delacroix, right?) near deeper water. Load the boat. Those shallow reefs warm up quickly, and fish (following bait) stack up on the flats when you get a warm winter day. My favorite conditions to fish down there.

Nah. I bet your buddy came in around 11:30 am. Those fish had lockjaw til 12:28pm today, then it was on like Donkey Kong.

If water temp hits mid 50's: Pointe Fienne Bay, Skippy Lake, Little Crevasse, Spyder Rig, Wreck Bay, Second and Third Bay. Good luck
