How is this an appealing musical genre to people?

I don't get it

Some of it is extremely over the top.

There/Their is some that I like.

Mainly tweakers love this stuff though.

I sat through some dnb dj after Phish in Miami in '09 before like EOTO or Lotus or some shite was gonna play, and it was the most miserable fricking hour of my life

And I was on a bunch of drugs

How does a bunch of bleeps and blips and bloops and 100000000 bpm and no danceable beat patterns appeal to people?

shite is boring

I was listening to some Autchere earlier today which is why I brought this up. The Tri Repetae album. Which is some fairly experimental electronic music I suppose, but still has like regular beats and melodies and like actual you know...music going on

Then I listened to some of their later stuff, when it got all drum and bass'y, and that shite was awful. I couldn't get through two songs.

Call me old fashioned but I need a beat I can actually like dance to if I'm going to listen to electronic music.

Pretty much

I always envision that with people that listen to happy hardcore. And like hang out at Brony conventions and be super nerds.

A good portion of it sounds the same too...I found myself not being able to decipher between different types of artists in the genre

Again, some people get off to this.

It is more of a 200AM in the jungle room kind of zone, music.

I get all that you are saying, cause some of it makes me feel the same way. I honestly have not listened to that genre a whole lot in years. Save for a random DnB track in some dubstep mixes I had on.

Most DnB is quick mixes of songs. A DJ might play about 30 songs in 15 mins.

I just went and listened to a few DnB tracks, and they sound like the music that's in those 90's Anti-Drug movies they show in High School "Too cool for drugs"

Its the only music I listen to. Been like this for almost 15 years.

Its certainly not for everyone and I prefer it that way. I'll say this though, of all the big genres in edm, dnb has by far the best DJs in terms of skill wise. This isn't up for debate.

As far as sounding the same, go listen to a set from someone like Andy C, Friction, Cyantific, Drumsound and Bassline Smith. In a two hour set you might hear 60-80 tracks.

Whoever was talking about Autechre, don't use that as a dnb reference. Listen to some of the people I mentioned. They more accurately portray the current state of dnb

Maybe you are just listening to shitty DnB. Try listening to Netsky or Bachelors of Science.

Just checked them out on Spotify. I like it.

I used to play DnB on late night road trips. These are getting played next time.

If you like stuff like that, try Artificial Intelligence, Nu:tone, Logistics, Commix, High Contrast, and London Elektricity. shite just check out the whole Hospital Records label.

If you want a little more heavy stuff try Ram Records. Andy C, DC Breaks, Delta Heavy, Loadstar, SUb Focus, Wilkinson.

Drumsound and Bassline Smith essential mix is top notch.

Some Jeff Mills on occasion.
