The Coast Guard has investigated an incident at Rowan Drilling rig in Vermilion Block 356 in the Gulf of Mexico. No evacuation will be necessary. Petty Officer Hunter Sellers told The Daily Advertiser that 40 rig workers had boarded lifeboats as a precaution.

“But now everyone is back to work and the all clear has been given,” Sellers said.

He said details about what prompted workers to try to escape by lifeboat were still coming in. Rowan Drilling had not yet returned calls asking for comment.
