NASCAR is so stupid. They are sitting on a gold mine and don't even know it.

They keep having the final race in Miami. Dumb. Nobody wants to watch that.

Now a final championship race at Daytona or Talladega?
Ratings gold

Amen, thats the first thing i thought of. Why, if its a championship, are you gonna have it at Homestead? Have it at a legendary track.

Keep driving those rating down, NASCAR. Sponsors will surely come running.

The end of the season will never be ratings gold because of the NFL.

If Nascar wants to regain popularity they need to start with two things:

1.) Shorten the damn races. No one wants to sit through a 500 mile race where 400 miles of it are just the drivers riding around trying not to wreck. 300 should be the norm. 500 for special races like Daytona only.

2.) Shorten the damn season. Realize that if you compete with the NFL for eyeballs you will lose 10/10 times. The season needs to end before football get started. Too many tracks have two races when they dont really need one (Pocono).

I actually like. Its gives. A reason to watch race knowing they can't play it safe nearly as much

Eta move the finale from Miami though

I kinda agree with this but there is no reason NASCAR could start their season in January...

First race Friday or Saturday night at Homestead the weekend of the AFC/NFC championship games. Nothing really going on at this time except basketball. It would act as a tuneup for a huge race week at Dayotona during the dead week before the Super Bowl.

Then have the rest of the winter races in California, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.

I'm not much of a race fan, but I think this format is interesting. I like the emphasis on winning races.

Races are still way too long though.

I don't like the resetting of points in the championship race.

This reformatting is absolutely awful. How Brian France consistently comes up with shittier ideas is beyond me

What a fricking tarded idea.

So theoretically, a driver could win the first 35 races in a row, then finish 3rd at Homestead and he could lose the championship to a driver that finishes 2nd at Homestead and doesn't have a win on the season

as a non-nascar fan, i think it makes sense.
a) winner take all finale sounds awesome.
b) start with more drivers, whittle it down just like other sports playoffs.

as to the "have the finale at a historic raceway", i understand the sentiment, but arent the ratings for those races really high anyways? doing it this way gives nascar another memorable race of the season.

The Patriots won their first 18 games in a row in 2007, and they lost the championship to a team with 6 losses that didn't even win their division.

edit: jcole beat me to it

NASCAR has put too much emphasis on the Chase. I like it better when it was about the individual race. You were the Daytona 500 Champion. The Championship ended up going to whomever had the best overall season. The chase has done one thing well which is to drive teams to not worry about winning, but positioning themselves for the chase. A race was like a bowl game.

Also, NASCAR changes up stuff too often.
