I know nothing about it but it looks like a blast and I am thinking of trying to get into it. I am referring to powered paragliding (where you strap a big fan on your back). I use to see guys doing this in the L'auberge area several years ago, but they were always on the quads (more like a go-cart).

Here is a video. It is a sales pitch that makes it look way easier than it probably is, but everything else I could find was people doing tricks and other crazy stuff.

We have a couple that fly over the Diversion fairly often. The kids always like to run out and see them. Considering I see the same ones, they must not be dying when they fly...

Their top speeds are usually between 15-25 mph. I have read that it is safer than a motorcycle (per hour) and the most common fatality is due to drowing. I would guess it may not actually be safer than a motorcycle but has a better safety record due to the type of people doing this vs a lot of jackasses that ride motorcycles.

I said the same thing, even though it obviously wouldn't be legal because it is a motorized vehicle. But it would be fun to try, would have to start with a 410 though.

It is kind of expensive, 8-10 grand for the whole setup. The chute is over 3 grand by itself. The engine and frame are all lightweight (so expensive) materials.

Some prices with specs that I found

Sounds fun, but I'd probably start with one of these or a hang glider

Looks too noisy.

No frame? No thanks.

I think I'd prefer a hang glider.
