Daddy Dale was the real deal. A total American Original. I will always revere him, and be thankful for how kind he was to this undergrad all those years ago. Watching the Tigers in the 1980's was one of the great experiences of my life. Remembering all those great UK games in the 80's and seeing him there tonight in the Autumn of his years, makes me really, really appreciate him all the more.

I was in the Basketball Band from 84-88 and those where some great times. Coach Brown was always very appreciative toward us as were the players. We even attended the basketball banquet with the team at the end of each season. It was quite an honor to be included.

I met Coach Brown in person several times and was very impressed with him.

I know that. Back in the day he circled the UK game and so tonight just brought the memories flooding back. Obscure memories, like Dennis Brown getting theopening tip and dunking in maybe 84. And seeing Daddy Dale fight back the laughter when we yelled "Sit down Joe" every time Joe B Hall stood up.

No doubt about it. I use to love listening to the pregame and after game interviews from Dale Brown. They use use to fire me up! The man could inspire and motivate like no other. I will never forget some of the great victories over teams like Arizona, unlv, Kentucky, Memphis, Georgetown and the list goes on. Dale Brown was never afraid to schedule the best.

And who can forget about all the times he would grab the mic during a game just to fire the crowd up. No one does that! He was an original for sure.

I did watch the second half of the 1989 win at Rupp today. Chris Jackson, Ricky Blanton...good times. I was in middle school then and I remember those years well.

When the refs blow the call...Dsle gets on the mic and says two wrongs don't make a right so please don't throw objects on the court.

There's going to be a ceremony honoring Coach Brown prior to the Arkansas game Saturday. Going to be at one of the libraries, I think.

I will never forget when Daddy Dale and the 78 Tigers defeated Kentucky in overtime 83-81 in 1978 when our entire starting lineup fouled out of the game. That game ranks right up there with some of the greatest LSU sports moments of all time. It was the "watershed moment" of Daddy Dales career where the Tigers became a major force in NCAA Basketball for years after that game. It was a magical moment I will never forget. The first time I recall the PMAC was called "Dead Dome".

Thanks for the awesome memories Mr Brown"

I feel privileged to have seen most of the home games he coached starting in '72. I still have that poster of The Hustlers around here somewhere.
