I decided on the remington 700 7mm08. I will get the full size gun for my son and the youth stock for me.

I mostly hunt wooded area but sometimes get invited on marsh hunts. Im looking for a scope that draws light early and late. I have access to a leica dealership and can possibly get a deal but is 1200 dollars worth a scope?

leica makes great glass/coatings.... if you have access to a leica at cost price then go for it. always, always spend more on the scope than the rifle.
It makes a difference, i sold this shite for almost 5 years. Had all the products... Schmidt & Bender, Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss, Leupold, Nikon, Burris, Bushnell..... I'd buy in that order. Ex, if you have 2,000 to spend.... get a $1200 scope and spend the $800 on a gun and the best mounts you can buy. No less than a leupold mount set.

Or just go to a website that sells them and read the reviews.

I'd be talking to Heberfest, he'll be a lot more knowledgeable about this if you let him know exactly what you're looking to get out of your scope. I'm not a huge deer hunter, but the times I've used Leica glass I was really impressed

zeiss conquest 3-9x40mm

Opt for better quality glass (conquest vs VXII), not larger diameter (40mm vs 50mm). Most of the time, the 50mm won't matter. The better glass will.

If you have the ability to get a 30mm tube get it.... german made lens/coatings with the 30mm scope tube is the difference. You could have a 1" tube from say a nikon monarch or leupold vx3 with a 50mm objective and not get better light transfered to your eye than you could with say a leica 2.5-10 x 42 b/c of the 30mm tube vs 1" tube.... its been a while, but take them out at night/dusk and see the difference. you have to wonder about a scope that is 1/3 of the price of another scope but yet looks clearer in the store under flourescent lighting.... could it be that the coatings are manufactured to look better that way????

I'm so damn confused with the title and the youth stock for yourself. Bilbo Baggins is that you?
