It came back on shortly after but this is not a good sign, we never lose it where I'm at.

Let the games begin

Mine blinked. Hopefully that's just entergy fooling with stuff.

Same here. I found it strange that Entergy didn't waste any time to announce in several different ways that power might go out. Almost in a way not so much that they were giving a precaution, but like they were expecting it.

So why would the power go out when it's just cold outside?

Ice coated limbs breaking and falling on power lines. Or cars crashing into poles. Or maybe they just like to frick with you.

I really did lose power one Sunday morning because a squirrel jumped on a feeder line down the street.

Dont worry Entergy has it covered.

quote:

"Power outage restoration may extend into 3 to 5 days for some customers, depending on the severity of the damage," he said. "Ice storms can pose a significant threat to an electric system, and extreme cold weather can present additional challenges and require a different – and often slower – restoration process."

when it's cold outside people's heaters run non stop. if they have electric heat, they use a lot of electric power. if the people use more power than the company can provide, there will be outages. this is why companies often may ask you to conserve power and keep your lights and tv off and not wash clothes and things like that during peak hours. if everyone conserves a little power, then there is a smaller chance of having outages.

GONZALES – Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced this morning Entergy will be conducting preventative repairs to electric lines in the LA 621/LA 44 intersection area to Black Bayou Road beginning at 8:30 a.m. The work will take approximately 45 minutes. Entergy officials said customers can expect a temporary outage while crews work on the lines. Customers are urged not to call and report this outage.

UPDATE: Entergy – Due to a delay, they are now expected to perform the work between 9:30am – 10:15am.
