The bottom of the pot is pretty well coated in carbon. Tried everything I can think of to fix it and it's only worked about halfway. Anyone have any wisdom?

Covered all the burned parts, boiled, and scraped with a metal spatula?

Sounds like if you try everything again you should be able to get the other half.

Put some alcohol and ice cubes in it and keep stirring it until it ices up on the outside. You might put in in the freezer before you do this. The ceramic may get cold enough to loosen the rest of the carbon.

No, because poor, and because it was a Christmas gift so I'd like to save it if possible.

I had this problem on a le cruesat (sp) pot. they sell a cleaner that worked somewhat.

Maybe call the manufacturer and ask them what you should do or maybe the pot is defective and they will send you a new one.

Buy a product called carbon off. Comes in an orange spray can. Works great but don't get it on your skin
