Yesterday evening I saw a really nice buck nose to the ground trailing a doe. Today I went in the swamp and saw at least 20 new rubs. Went by my office on the way home and there were 2 new rubs on the driveway.

I haven't seen this much activity all season. I'd gladly give up Oct and Nov for Feb

The rut has started late this season. I hunt the maurepas area and just killed an 8 pt trailing a doe last friday during the sleet and snow in the area. Went back the next day to pick up my ground blind and saw a fresh scrape under a licking branch and I mean FRESH.

Half my bucks on camera (around January 16) have lost at least one horn.

As in dropping them or breaking them off fighting?

I've never seen them drop them until March
