Killed my first eight point on Friday and I want to get it mounted. I called a taxidermist in Hammond but he said it would take him a year to complete. I've never had one mounted before but this seems like a long time to me. I would think maybe two or three months might be about right but a year?

I knew it was time to call on the OB for help.

This late in the season, if you find someone that gets it back to you in 2-3 months, its not going to be top quality.

Well being my first one I want it to be done right so I'm willing to wait. I just didn't know that a year was typical.

not from the area but normally when i take a mount in at november/december the turn around time is april/may, so this late in the season a year is probably right!

I'd say 8-12 months this late in the year is what you should expect.

I guess if it takes that long, maybe it'll be a ten point when I get it back.

Ponchatoula. And yes, this late in the season you will have to wait for your deer, but it will be done right
