I checked out his 247Sports profile recently and they had him at 45% LSU and 45% Texas. Most recently they had more guys picking LSU.

Porter is one hell of an athlete.

I don't think Dupre affects his decision in either way.

It's either truly trending in our direction or the prognosticators are hedging their crystal ball %'s based upon 247 as LSU is the pick de jour.

for all those wondering who may be our commit this year who signs " out of the blue" .. this kid will probably be it.

I am uncertain if he has any more visits planned but I think we had a really good weekend this past weekend for recruiting.

Locked up - Kelly, Valentine, Porter and maybe Young (still on going)

Time to press : Dupre, Dupre, Dupre... adoree and trey l

well, multiple people picked him to LSU. I think he's a part of this class AT THIS POINT IN TIME.

Unfortunately, people won't be satisfied with a surprise that isn't at least a high 4*. It will probably result in more people complaining about us "settling".

They're both receivers. We wouldn't to accept a commitment from Porter if Noil had committed. He's taking that spot, the differences between the players aren't particularly relevant. We wanted Noil because he's an excellent receiver, not because we needed his exact skill set. We want Porter because he's a pretty good receiver, not as an exact replacement of Noil's skill set.

who cares. what is the value added by this point?? People need to get over spilled milk and move on with their lives. I bet you still bitch about the girls you dated in 3rd grade when you peaked in life.

He's taller than speedy and adoree on offense will make us forget speedy. With all those tamu receivers, he will wish he had come to Lsu.

I understand the point -- a recruit classified as a WR taking a spot. We lost out on another guy classified as a WR. duh.

But, I saw Noil as a bigger asset in the return game, being used out of the backfield, etc. A replacement for how LSU planned to use Jeryl Brazil.

LSU can still get that same kind of help with Adoree in the return game, and possibly another guy on the commit list already in the slot (Chark). The biggest loss when it comes to Speedy is that he's going to a rival and improving their offensive talent. He'll do well in that spread.

LSU wanted another big frame WR to go along with Upchurch, I think. It didn't work out with Frank Nachobellgrande. Porter might be that guy.

Watch his highlights. He's tall, physical, likes to block, and plays the ball very well in the air. A 5'11" Noil cannot do that down the field against the corners in this league. LSU's use of Porter and Noil would be completely different.

Either way, he seems smooth and obviously has potential if he's now being pursued pretty hard by Texas, Oregon, UCLA.

I'm sick of this type of comment. NOT necessarily pointed towards you, but posters in general. Speedy has never touched a college ball, he may not be a great return man. Chad Jones would never have played according to you guys' description of what it takes to return.

LSU has plenty of fearless athletes who will do quite well returning.

Speedy made a choice and is gone. I for one am damn happy it worked out like that. I've had questions about his actions for well over a year.

Our current recruits or past signers actually offer more than what Speedy could bring. Plus, they love LSU!

He is going to visit Texas this weekend. We'll see where he stands after that.

Porter is more of an x receiver.. He's 6-5 and has good speed. Noil obviously is a slot type and IMO with Quinn we won't miss him as much as some think. He and Dupree would be a solid finish to this yr wr class

we really need to finish the wr class with dupre and porter. anything less would be disappointing. we had a legit shot or lead for all of the following wrs. dupre, quinn, noil, quille, porter, blacknall, sims.

Wow, you're really upset. You should take a break if recruiting gets you this angry. I'm not crying over spilled milk, I'm just not ignoring that Porter was a second choice when people here want to act like that's not true.

Double Down, they're just mad.
