OT traffic gurus: Lake Chuck to NOLA

I will be in Lake Chuck this Monday and will get out of my obligations there around 11. It is absolutely essential that i be in NOLA by 4pm to meet a certain and absolute deadline.
Essentially what I am worried about is the slight percent chance there is an accident on the Basin Bridge and I am held back a couple hours, as this has happened to me before There is a chance of rain that day which is why I am worried.
Also my experience driving in BR i have sat in traffic on numerous rainy days on I-10 as well as the bridge heading into NOLA
Anyone think I would be better off coming back on HWY 90 if time allots for the route?
I know it would take longer, but I thought it could be a safer bet than risking the Basin Bridge, Baton Rouge traffic, and the bridge into NOLA

Let me guess. Statistical consultation?

well, that is about 3 1/2 hours of actual drive time and you have 5 hours to do it....
I would personally stay with I-10, but would have some alternate routes planned in case of blockage...that is, I would be aware of ways to get to 190 from I-10 if necessary and also would have an eye on the traffic via the internet so that you can see if there is a problem miles in advance....

you should be okay especially midday during the work week. obviously anything can happen but i'd give you a 90-95% chance of making it.

90-95% chance
Thats what i figure
When dealing with the Traffic/Gov nothing is absolute
