No squirrels, deer, coons,or birds within 500 yds of me right now. I am "squirrel hunting" behind the house with my 9,4,and 2 yr olds. Needless to say it has been a stick breaking, puddle splashing and I need to go potty adventure.

Yes it is. They love being in the woods and I am more than happy to take them. That's much easier than trying to get them to be quiet in a deer stand. My wife is on the other side of the place trying to shoot a deer. I hope she gets one because she has hunted hard and hasn't killed in a couple years.

Enjoy these days while you can.

Let them enjoy playing with rocks, sticks and dirt. They'll stay occupied for hours and hours like that. Lots of fun!

definitely a hunting experience neither of you will forget and will likely be re-told dozens of times when they grow older

I know how that goes. Brought my two oldest girls (4&6) deer hunting about 2 weeks ago. 'Twas very entertaining, but nowhere near stealthy.

My so is turning 5 in a couple of weeks. Taking him with me make any outdoor activity more difficult and infinitely more rewarding.

Its definitely a good time and I enjoyed that more than a deer hunt. When we got home my 4 yr old told my wife that he "blew up" 2 squirrel nests with his BB gun..that was priceless to see him go over the details of the shot.
We even had my 2 yr old girl walking up and shaking vines.I think my wife was jealous that I did that and she went deer hunting.

haha those are fun hunts.. i took my wife last week on a "squirrel" hunt. She just wanted to go, she has never even shot a gun. I took the mp15-22, needless to say we saw ZERO squirrels! But the woods were full of robins so i influenced her to tryn and shoot one, showed her how to use the scope which is red dot, and after about an hr and numerous attempts she finally found a bird in the scope.. squeezed and boom she hit the dam thing then she said i want to do it again that was fun! sooo i dont know if i should or

I'm bringing my gf next weekend to deer hunting with me for the first time. She seems enthusiastic about it

She's never shot a gun so I will start her with the pellet gun and then a .22 around the camp

Im glad my wife wants to hunt but it does make it tough sometimes.Luckily,we hunt on our place so my MIL usually watches the kids so we can both go.
Myy wife wasnt a hunter until about 5 yrs ago but is full bore now.She walks in by herself and even hunts out of hanging stands.Ive created a monster.

Hey pdubya76, How's your wife doing. I remember last year she was in the hospital with a brain aneurysm. Hope all is well brother.

Man, thanks for asking. She is doing well other than a few problems with short term memory. We were down your way Monday for a checkup with Dr Cullichia . We will be back Wednesday morning for a angiogram. He says its routine but I always worry, especially when they go into your brain. I will be on the 2nd floor waiting in the hospital all day Wednesday .
