So far I've been a terrible shot with my plastic pistol. IDK if it's my sight or my aim or my twitchy squeeze...but I want to work on SOMETHING to fix it.

First off, my sights...the center aiming dot is HUGE and blocks the entire target at most distances.

I mean I have to literally guess where the target is behind the giant white dot.

I guess I'll just start it up REALLY close.
I think I need something with a different appearance...

But not tonight.

I talked with a guy who said concentrate on B.R.A. He said think of big titties, and I did, kind of forgot the acronym.

Breathe, Relax, Aim...

I'll take a photo of my target so you all can laugh at me.

You shouldn't really need the sights on your handgun but if you do you might as well just throw a laser on there.

Shouldn't need sights? Point with both index fingers?

No laser for me. DO they make 357sig tracer rounds? That'd be cool.

You talk that gun up like nobody's business and you can't shoot it.

Hold the gun as TIGHTLY as you possibly can while gripping as high up on the backstrap as possible.

Also, trade it in for a 9mm.

It's not the damn gun that's the problem.

*don't stare at the hammer, don't stare at the hammer*

I can shoot it, I mean I'll hit the back of the range lane and all. If hitting the paper that the target is printed on counts I bet I'll hit it most of the time...

If you can't hit the target with your gun, the gun is part of the problem. Unless you are the worst shot on earth. You gotta understand that 2 things exist to make the perfect shot. A good gun and a man comfortable enough with his gun to make that shot

I've never really gone and concentrated like I should. I just say I'm bad because when I break it out and try to shoot paint cans and range litter it doesn't go so well. Maybe my expectations were too high. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to hit the target at an indoor range.

Good hearing protection. Be most aware of your front sight. Shoot. A lot.

I have some Remington over ear muffs and some strange in the ear but on a plastic headband looking things, both from Academy. My only other range trip was to an outdoor range and I put my boy in the Remingtons. I used the in ear rubberish ones and it was loud as frick. Amazingly, to me, so. I'll use the over ear type tonight.

You should be able to shoot the wings off a gnat's arse with that fine looking marvel of German engineering.

I'm dying in anticipation for my damn German watch that I've ordered. This is the longest I've ever waited for a product. Before this it was the three months it took to get my stupidly awesome holster.

Your eyes need to focus on your front sight. The target should be blurry and you should be honed in on the front sight.

It just seems too damn big, like it's made for quick target acquisition in close range type situations. I'm not going to change it until I've put a bunch more rounds through it...

I'll definitely try that, thanks.

You are doing something wrong. It should be as fluid as the breath you take. You focus on the front, line em up and squeeze. The "BANG" should surprise you. But not scare you.

Gaston,

When pistol shooting, your front sight is not supposed to cover the Bullseye. You're supposed to use what's called the "6 o'clock site alignment" which puts your front site just under the bottom edge of the Bullseye.

See here:

Well frick me. I'll add that to the long list of things I shouldn't have had to be told but had no idea otherwise. No wonder I couldn't hit the fricking paint buckets.

ETA: I read the manual more than once as well. No mention of this. Is the absolute center if the bullseye supposed to be where at the center of an imaginary circle stacked ontop of the center dot?
