I always thought cops looked out for eachother. Why would they arrest one of their own?

Guess being a Good Samaritan fricked him

Terribly misleading title for the article. It makes it seem like he caused the accident when all he did was come to a victims aid.

They don't say whether he caused the accident or not.

So, he has a few drinks-- I mean he's a cop, he thinks, "How the frick am I going to get a DUI? I'm a cop; I can have a few beers and still drive and shite." So he sees this shite happen. I mean, he thinks, "Well, I guess I'm almost obligated to help out in this shite." But, you know-- he's hoping maybe his buddies will come out and he can do some talk. He's a cop; he can't get a DWI, right? It's not even on his mind. He is a hero! His buddies come. Uh-oh. :O
Who would have seen this resulting in a DWI? A cop helping out arrested by his fellow officers? Wow, that's hardcore. Must have beef with him. O_o

The article says he was possibly involved in a two vehicle crash.

I dont know the story, it seems kinda weird to me. But I can say I know him and he is a stand up guy and has always been a good officer. I hope it works out for him. If he did stop and try and help then somebody must have had a problem with him, cause he is one of the few that really does his job above and beyond.

He must be a supporter of the St. George movement.

Baton Rouge Police arrested Officer Steven Zach Woodring, 32, for driving while under the influence.
Woodring was possibly involved in an off-duty, two-vehicle crash that happened on I-12 near Sherwood Forest Boulevard at about 3:40 a.m.
According to reports, Woodring and a 40-year-old woman were each driving on I-12 East. The woman lost control of her car, and it flipped on its side.
Woodring helped pull the woman from her wrecked vehicle. Police and emergency responders later arrived on scene.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Investigators believe that the icy road conditions were a factor in the accident, though they’re still looking into the official cause.
Woodring, a 5-year veteran, has been placed on Administrative leave.
An internal investigation is pending.

I would much rather a different agency arrest him instead of the one he works for like Sheriff's Office or State Police.
Much easier to get around the red tape and makes things faster with internal reviews with the special bill of rights cops have.

Like the interstate during hazardous conditions while under the influence?
That is the worst-worded article I've read in a while. Two vehicle crash - so obviously their cars collided at some point. Then they make him sound like a good samaritan who merely witnessed a wreck and tried to help? Which is it?
