bullshite. Bill Stewart should have never been head coach in the first place. He has hired at 3am after an emotional Fiesta Bowl win by a drunk AD who was still bitter about Rich Rod leaving.
Stewart was an awful head coach and had the program going in the wrong direction. Losing 24-3 to East fricking Carolina when you are ranked #8 and have Sr. Pat White and Noel Devine? Dana had 59 players on scholarship when he took over, and had to cut several loose that weren't D1 material because Bill like to give scholarships to "hard working West Virginia kids."
Still, Oliver Luck was willing to let Stewart finish his last year of his contract and then give him a cushy six figure job in the SID department. Wasn't good enough for Stewart as he tried to undermine all of this by trying to get Holgs fired via slander. West Virginia didn't do Bill Stewart wrong, Stewart sabotaged the university he claimed to love.

You do realize that West Virginia reached its peak in the Rich Rodriguez days, right? WVU is just not a perennial power and is not a traditional powerhouse program. Stewart led them to three straight 9 win seasons and got pushed out. That's not fair at all, even in the SEC. West Virginia fans expected the impossible from him, and now we see where they are without him. I'd die too if I received the treatment and slander he did.

What treatment and slander did Stewart receive? Maybe from the fans, but being bashed by fans comes with the territory of D1 coaching. He never should have been head coach at WVU. He was fired for going 8-25 at VMI.
Yes, he won 9 games a year, but that was in spite of coaching. WVU was much more talented than any other Big East teams during that time, yet continually underachieved, letting freaking UConn win the Big East because the WVU couldn't score more than 10 points in Storrs.
