Lolo Jones' selection to the U.S. Olympic bobsled team is being strongly defended by those who made the pick, amid growing criticism that her popularity played a role in the decision and overshadowed the results of other hopefuls.

I don't see what they need to defend. She qualified so obviously it was a good decision

Aja Evans and Lauryn Williams are the other Sochi-bound push athletes, on a team with pilots Jamie Greubel, Elana Meyers and Jazmine Fenlator. Williams — a veteran Olympic sprinter and gold medalist from the 400-meter relay at the London Games — sat in a bobsled for the first time less than four months ago, yet her selection to the team is far more warmly received than Jones' pick.

Bitches always hating on Lolo to try to get their name out.

If they don't think she can help the team win above those not chosen then yes it was a bad pick. But the olympics is about gold medals and I'm certain they put the best possible team together, regardless of Jones' popularity.

They need to shut the frick up! I didn't even know there was a womens b sled until I saw she made the team. She is the only reason about a million men will now watch to see her bent over in tights pushing that thing!

All this drama proves how easy this damn sport is to be good at. Be fast, not be afraid of speed, and lean at the appropriate times and you have a chance at the Olympics.

Yeah, I'm sure it's a piece of cake.

What other sport can someone with less than 4 months experience actually make the Olympics?

In the 4 man bobsled, the middle guys run, hop in, and enjoy the ride.

It's so easy, all you have to do is be an Olympic class athlete!

Just forget the fact she's been training her whole life for the Olympics. Its not as simple as just jumping in a sled.

Pro football is just as easy. Where can you go from driving a beer truck to returning kicks? Or play basketball you whole life and break records as a TE? They are athletes being told what to do and where to go on the field. You see it all the time with kids barely having any experience getting scholarships to college. They just are superior athletes.

Yes I realize that. But my point is if any top level college sprinter can transition to bobsled and be successful just because they are fast, how much skill does the sport really require?

It apparently requires at least as much skill as being a top college level sprinter. Which is a hell of a lot of skill.

That's all I'm arguing. To be good at bobsled you must just be fast.

Which means there are hundreds of sprinters across the country that good drop track and become an Olympic quality bobsledder rather quickly. I can't think of another they could do that with.

...After already being a world-class sprinter.

So I'm sure we could grab a Wide Receiver from Capital High and throw him on our bobsled team just 'cause he's fast, huh?

She's not the driver, all she has to do is run fast on ice then move her head around.

If he runs a 4.5 and you let him run on ice for four months I bet he would be fine haha
