Why not just issue him a bill for that amount and be done with it? There are MUCH worse things going on in this world....

Yes state and Feds get involved when situations deal with chiefs. It keeps things from disappearing or not showing up in the investigation.

Keeps it fair and doesn't have one of his own having to crucify him

At the local level, a good percentage of officials are complete morons and some of the dumbest people ever that you just can't help but SYH at.

The chief in Sorrento has a lawsuit against him claiming that he sexually assaulted a drunk woman in his office. Wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
