Hill was a 4*

Not sure about Faulk...don't know if they had stars back then.

I believe Randle was #1.

Ford & Ware were both 5-stars. Keiland Williams too.

Ford wasn't but you're right about the other 2. Forgot about them.

I thought Spencer Ware was a 4-star recruit out of Ohio?

Faulk was #2 in country overall behind Dan Kendra. He was considered an ATH in rankings ( although everyone wanted him as an RB). Ahman Green and Shaun Alexander were the top RB's that year.

Fred Taylor is a year older than him BTW.

all depends on which service you look at. Ware was 5* on one of the services, probably scout. though scout also gave out more 5*s than other services

Ford was a 5 star on scout. Ware was a 5 star athlete on rivals. Keiland was the last 5 star rb on rivals.

Ware was a 5* on Rivals and a 4* on Scout. Ford was 4* on Rivals and a 5* on Scout.

Maybe I should have asked - who was the last #1 overall recruit who was also a RB that signed with LSU?
I guess Kevin Faulk comes close.....

I wonder where Charles Alexander, Garry James and Cannon were ranked?

The better question would have been "when is the last time LSU didn't have a 5-star RB on the team?"

Russell was about the #3 or #4 dropback QB - he was a consensus 4 star.

Charles Alexander was not terribly highly regarded as I recall. He was a fullback in HS and started there at LSU before shifting to TB.
