Will be taking an extended weekend (thurs-Tues) with the spouse at the end of February & staying in the Riverwalk/Downtown area. I haven't been to San Antonio since I was a kid so I was hoping you guys could give me some "must do" restaurant recommendations for that area. We're looking for any cuisine & any price range-we'll be there for basically 11-12 meals (lunch/supper). Def want a good Mexican recommendation & open to any other cuisine & type of restaurant, anything from great local dives to a good steakhouse. I've checked urbanspoon, trip advisor, & yelp but would like to hear from F&DB experts! TIA

Page Eddie Vedder he put together a list some time ago, but all were excellent choices with most on the Riverwalk.

Blame it on the weak search function, but SA is discussed often.

Here's an informative thread from 2012. About 7 posts in, I offered links to nine more SA food threads

I like Schilo's, an old German deli style place. Located at street level, but accessible from the Riverwalk. LINK /

There is a good Mexican joint on the Riverwalk called the Iron Cactus. Usually go there when I go to SA. Iron Cactus

Paesanos is a nice upscale Italian joint that I have taken my wife too. We both enjoyed the food.

The Little Rhein Steakhouse and the Fig Tree are both pretty good restaurants. Fig Tree Menu

If you want to get a little off of the Riverwalk, Pico de Gallo has very good food.

Also, for a cocktail, Swig is a pretty awesome place. That is on the Riverwalk.

Not sure what part of SA this place is, but it's the favorite watering hole of my buddy that lives there...

It would be a crime to not stop there, both on the way there and on the way back.

Are you going for work or fun? If going just for fun, i think you'd enjoy Austin more.

Trip is for fun, we've been to Austin a bunch, just last year, so we are looking for another spot within 5-6 hour drive.

Second Boudreaux's

They make guacamole at your table. It has a lot of citrus in it, which I like, and a very cool atmosphere.
