I know that most of the folks that post here are long time recruitniks. I've followed recruiting for years, although not near to the degree as the folks in here, but that being said, I don't think I ever remember seeing a class that was this "unsettled" this late. For the guys that live and breath recruiting, amirite? It seems like every day, I log on and learn about another 5 star that's considering LSU, and it's the first time I've heard the guys name.

Do the long time recruiting followers here feel the same way? Is this year different in that there's way more talent "in play" this late?

Emotionally, nothing has compared to this yr. I was delusional that we'd get all "our" guys. The Karr duo and Tony brown still make me sniff glue.

Completely agree, but the "misses" are not really my question/point.

I'm talking more along the lines of we've got like 5 - 6 spots left, and those spots could be filled with either all 5 stars, or all guys that were much less heavily recruited. I just don't remember their ever being that much 5 star talent in play before.

the Recruiting Board "knows drama."

to your point....yes. we all know that championships are won and lost on NSD and with the glut of in-state talent and with the black hole two states to the east the class of '14 has been full of booms and not-so-booms. seaux it geauxs....we will move forward with the kids that "have the want" to be LSU Tigers....and that's good enuff for me.

It is only that way due to social media.

Though their talent cannot be denied, we may have dodged some bullets there. The Brown thing speaks for itself and I have serious doubts about the integrity of the Karr guys. Though there is no way to be sure, I have heard (and this guy would know if anyone did) that as late as the morning of 1/2 they had both reassured Les Miles of their intentions to play for LSU and I have no doubt it was all a deliberate thing done to hurt the image of LSU. Why? That's another story. My point being, screw those clowns and I am glad to have the high caliber guys like Fournette, Quinn and Harris in this class. We are better off with them, regardless of talent. It just so happens that they also kick arse on the field.

I definitely don't follow recruiting as much as most of these posters, but I can say with confidence that the most exciting national signing days were 8-10 years ago before it was cool to have 15-20 early commits.

It won't even be the most dramatic day of this recruiting cycle. 1/2/14 killed a lot of dreams around here and most are still recovering.

I'd love for us to get a guy like Carter or Prince, but I'm not holding my breath.

the one thing for new recruitniks to learn- its not all about stars. its about filling needs. ex- bama needs tony brown more than us. we needed LF more than bama. now, we need one more wr and some major interior beef.

This is shaping up to be one of the least dramatic NSD I can remember.

Kelly - getting a lot of pressure from FSU
Carter - I think is UGA bound and the hiring of Jeremy Pruitt doesn't hurt
Adoree - Final 3 includes Florida/UCLA/USC
Kenny Young - Wants out of Louisiana
Speaks - Still committed to Ole Miss, might have been too late
Valentine - Last visit is Miami & stepdad's best friend is Hurlie Brown
Johnny Dwight - shutting down his recruitment
Lealaimatafao - looking good for the home team
Dupre - LSU/FSU/UCLA/BAMA battle
McDowell/Prince - long shots, will not get my hopes up
