Wonderducks/Mojo's late season tips in flooded timber?

This year has been an off year at my place with weary and finicky ducks, especially mallards. We have experimented many different aspects of our decoy spread and overall hunting techniques from pairing them, sticking mojo's in trees, less calling, and even setting fewer than half a dozen decoys. I was wondering if any of you seasoned veterans have any words of wisdom for this situation that happened this past season to prepare for next? Is there such thing as over thinking when it comes to duck hunting? I was also looking into buying the mallard machine and was wanting to hear first hand reviews if possible. TIA

We don't use mojos at all starting in December. We also dang near didn't call at all on our last few hunts.
One thing you might look at is getting some inflatable decoys. I know you probably won't believe me, but go to Wal-Mart and pick up some of the Cherokee Featherlite decoys. They come in a box for like $40, get rid of the crap anchors and rig your own. They are light, have no keel and move on the water way better than any regular plastic/foam decoy.
I found these when I was walk-in hunting and they are my favorite decoys now because the movement is so good out of them. We mix them with our spreads in Arkansas and you can really tell how bad regular decoys look when they don't move.

Get ready for a lot of weight if you are going to hunt a mallard machine.
They'll make Teal light on a spot....Mallards..meh.

Late in the year if I use a Mojo at all it is placed 60-75 yards away in a thicket from hell. I will try to call ducks away from that area or just pass shoot them if they are pulling the old "Look and leave" trick

No mojo, light calling. Use a jerk string when they are on the swing. If they don't committ they don't want to be there. Find out where they are ending up and hunt there.

Is it sure nuff flooded timber or just some trees in the water so you are calling it flooded timber? Big difference there in Mojo placement. If we are talking a flat of trees, go ahead and use the Mojos. It's hard for ducks to really bare down on the Mojos in the trees and they mostly just catch the motion on their swings. If it's the other, ditch them completely but make sure you keep the water rippled up with a jerk string.
Mallard Machines are nice if you can hard wire it and leave it in one spot. Too heavy to mess with every hunt.

I didn't have a duck pay attention to the call the 2nd split until the last 2 weekends, then they acted like they were trying to get into the blind to find the call. Go figure. No robo

Lose da robot and like moutain said those inflatables are great. They are very visible in the sun and dance all over the water with just a breath of air. Jerk cord is a must as ducks will key in on it with almost no calling
