Edited title: Disappointed in Eric Gordon...

My son, who has cerebral palsy, is part of a baseball/basketball/soccer league called the Miracle League. They have leagues all over the country to help special needs children get the chance to play ball.
Anyway, the kids got access to the Fan Tunnel Saturday night for the Golden State game. For those of you that aren't familiar, everyone down there gets to high five the players going in and out of the locker room right before and after halftime.
Well, all of the players and coaches high fived these kids going into the locker room, except EG. he just had his head down and shuffled into the locker room.
As the team headed back out to the court, many players actually stopped and spoke to these kids, took pictures, and shook parents hands. Let it be known that this is not required of the players, nor should it be requested of by the fans in the tunnel. Tyreke Evans was amazing, and showed great patience while someone tried to get their camera to work. AD was awesome as well, even though he knew his attention was in great demand. Basically, all of the players and coaches were accessible, and human, other than Eric Gordon. He simply just walked by, reaching out an occasional hand, not caring if it hit another kid's hand or not as he made it to the floor.
The best part of the whole exchange, which i didnt hear until the next day from another parent was from a kid who has never had a filter and mumbled "how come #10 doesnt wanna talk to us? is it because we know he sucks?"

Actually, at an event my son and I attended after last season, Gordon was the most forthcoming, spending a lot of time talking with my son. I was actually very surprised at how nice he was. The player that really did not take the time to talk to the children was Davis. I chalked it up to him being young and maybe a bit shy.

Damn, redd... Sorry to hear that
Some here claim EG is an awkward introvert who doesn't know how to handle the media/attention... When in reality he may be a selfish a-hole who just doesn't give a frick about anything but getting his cash.
Good to hear about Tyreke and Davis though. Tyreke seems to be fitting in really well and I hope he's part of this teams future plans

Interesting. I actually tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, since it wasn't required of the players to be interactive. However, once I saw every single other player and coach get so involved, it irritated me.

Eric Gordon reminds me of a milder version of Ricky Williams in terms of how he handles the media and fans.
The guy is just a big introvert playing a sport filled with extroverts.

Other than Reke, Monty was the most outgoing and involved. I really was amazed by Reke though.

Ill honestly admit that I didn't know about the introvert thing, and now I feel a little bad for starting the thread.

I mean he should have been more greetable to the kids but how do you know he doesn't have something going on in his life that's bringing him down at the moment where he doesn't want to put on a facade and fake smiles?
These dudes have problems in their own lives and can't be accessible to fans every minute they're in public. I'm sure every athlete at some time has avoided fans for whatever reason.

I don't have a problem with him other than the fact his play dictates he should be on a contract more similar to Evans or Anderson.
That extra money would be nice in giving it to a better SF or C.

I don't.

I was court side for that game and remember seeing your group. That's awesome that (most of) the players stopped and talked to him.

Problem is, we don't know if this is an isolated incident or a trend.
Have to give him a pass.
Glad your boy gets the chance to play some ball and meet some NBA stars - probably means a lot to him.

He's easy to bash around here because he hasn't lived up to his contract after all the stuff that happened post trade and Phoenix. Since then he's seemingly said and done all the right things. He's just never been a social guy, and New Orleans fans more than others it seems take offense to athletes not embracing the city.
But it's nice to hear the others on the team are doing little things like that to make the kids happy.
eta: the other day, a few of the Pels went to St. Jude's with Monty. AD was one of them.

EG is known to be a very quiet and introverted guy, even on the court you don't really see him come out of his shell.

Sounds like you and NOSHAU had rather different experiences.
It sucks he wasn't nicer to the kids, especially since they have cerebral palsy. But it seems like he (and probably most NBA players) have days where they are into the event or they're not. I wish they would be nice all the time at these events but it just doesn't happen.
Again, I think it's pretty messed he didn't give more attention to the kids but it's possible he just had some stuff going on that day that took him out of it.

Not all of the kids have cerebral palsy. Some have autism, some have Downs, some have other disabilities, They are all just children. It doesn't even matter that they have disabilities. I shouldn't have even mentioned that in my post, because it doesn't even matter. I was just trying to give some background on how we all got down there to begin with.
I really didn't know that EG was that much of an introvert, so I probably came down harder on him than I should have with this thread. He just seemed almost afraid to interact with the children at all. Chalk it up to a bad day. I'm gonna change the thread title.
