Would rather get a 20% increase in salary or have another two weeks vacation every year?

I just got a new job that doubled my salary...not surprisingly doubled my stress and workload as well.
For the first time I can understand the value of vacation over salary.
Interesting Fact: $75,000 is the average salary people with the best work/life balance.

For the time being I would still take the salary increase, but it's close.

wife just got a 30% increase and told they will get to start working 9/80's...so she basically gets 26 more days off.

At first, I'd be inclined to say this but my wife wouldn't be able to take off so its really moot.

I have enough vacation that I don't use every year.

Give me the money.

Once you reach a certain point in a company, you can't afford to be away from the office for vacation.

I tried to turn down my last 2 raises in exchange for more vacation time but the company wouldn't do it.

I have 9/80s and 15 days of PTO a year. That is 41 days off and if I need extra days for being sick or taking care of something at the house or an appointment its no big deal at all.

I would take the extra 20% without even thinking about it.

20% for me, I get close to 6 weeks of time off now and I am always down to the wire using it every year.

I would just use your current job situation as the vacation amount.
Obviously some salaries and vacation amounts could change this answer for a lot of people

Honestly... if we could just be more like the Europeans and have a 2 hour lunch and "siesta" everyday...

That would be better than the money or vaca time
