Marmot Precip is much better than the Hyvent. Around the same price I believe. $99.

I've been in Colorado too long. I don't own a rain coat or an umbrella.

If you want the best you have to pay for the best. Obviously I posted it as a joke but it is worth the price if you use it for its intended purposes.

I bought a light columbia one in tampa. It has one of the hoods that folds down into the jacket when its not being used.

I do too. It soaked through after a few uses(also it is about 2 years old). May just need a DWR wash but I was a little disappointed.

Arcteryx makes actual real technical gear. They don't mess around. Not really for just walking to class.

If you want the best, get something with Gore Tex, preferably an Arcteryx. I have the Beta AR and it is insanely well constructed. Mammut/RAB are really nice as well.

If you want a 100 dollar rain jacket that works most of the time, get a Patagonia Torrentshell or Marmot Precip.

Regardless, that is ridiculous.

Again. Their stuff is made for summiting mountains. You don't want your gear to fail. It's the real deal.
