I have some consulting work coming up in Baytown. Last time I worked in the area I stayed on I-10 near the Baytown exit. I do not want to repeat that mistake. For a guy that will be staying for 4-5 weeks where would you suggest that I stay. I will be eating out every night with some free time every now and again.
TIA
TIA

South of 225 on 146 has a ton of places to eat and some good bars. There is a comfort inn (I think) south of spencer hwy on 146 that is 5-10 minutes from all the Kemah/Clear Lake spots.
Hit Boondoggles on Thursdays for boiled crawfish and crab.

Look into La Porte. It's about 5-10 minutes from Baytown and about 10-15 minutes from clear lake/league city/Webster, which is where there are more things to do. I would say stay in Clear Lake but the drive to Baytown with traffic might be a pain in the morning and La Porte is a much easier drive.
FWIW, I grew up in La Porte.

I'd drive the 10-15 miles, clear lake

Pretty good selection of grub and lodging there so I am guessing the crime freaked you out. You are not going to upgrade much with that element anywhere in H-town. I would probably lean toward the Clear Lake area as well but keep in mind, that is somewhat of a drive to Baytown.

Yeah, I'd stay in Kemah/Clear Lake. Make sure to go hit up Gilhooley's in San Leon....damn good chargrilled oysters....and a very entertaining place.

Come on down to Clear Lake...plenty to see and do over here and tons of restaurants. I don't frequent 146 a lot so I can't speak for the traffic on there. I think there were some newer hotels on 146 the last time I was over by 146/225. But, it doesn't seem like there's much to do over there but it's not a far drive to Kemah/Clear Lake.

Actually look up Candlewood Suites or La Quinta in Deer Park. They are Both on East blvd, which is a nice clean street with a ton of new development and would be an extremely easy quick drive. All you would do is take 225 to 146 to Baytown

Thought the oysters were overrated but it's without a doubt a cool place.

I was drunk so the probably were.
Also check out Nobi House in Clearlake area...supposed to have a great beer selection.

As many have already stated, so south on Hwy 146 down to the Kemah/Clear Lake/NASA area.
The Kemah Boardwalk is a good place to stay. You can walk around every night and there are several restaurants in walking distance or a short drive.
Hilton has a nice hotel over on Clear Lake, but you have to drive to dinner every night unless you eat in the hotel.
You could also get a chain hotel near the boardwalk, which might suit you better for a long stay.

Kemah. It's the slowest part of tourist season so there are alot of lodging deals to be had. Good food and views in Kemah. It would be a 10-15 minute drive to work.

Understand that if you've got normal working hours in Baytown, then commuting to/from Kemah (especially in the evening) is going to potentially be a pain in the arse. I'd offer you a place to stay in League City, but alas, it's a company-owned home.
