Why don't they want to redistribute their wealth to the poorer people in 3rd world countries?
It just doesn't seem fair.

Seems like your question is based on a dishonest premise. Who says they don't?

Have you ever worked for a poor man? I think that's the question that needs to be asked.

any time some wealthy person calls for "wealth distribution", they should be referred to this:
quote:
How do I make a contribution to the U.S. government?
Citizens who wish to make a general donation to the U.S. government may send contributions to a specific account called "Gifts to the United States." This account was established in 1843 to accept gifts, such as bequests, from individuals wishing to express their patriotism to the United States. Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government. Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

If they wanted to do it, they would do it.

They are just greedy envious bastards at heart. They don't want distribution to anyone but themselves. They just have the ability to use the government to STEAL the wealth of others at the end of the tax laws gun. The people that will suffer the most will be the middle class, and the DNC will profit with more slaves voting or them in the future as a result of an increase of free chump change in the accounts of welfare and all of the other benefits that trickle down from DC.

Why don't they want to redistribute ALL of their wealth
Especially Hollywood. I know they are all upset about income inequality. How can they enjoy their Oscar or any of the other self aggrandizing galas knowing that people are starving in Appalachia?

There are a LOT of people in the US who want this. They meet at this really big building in NYC. It's called the U.N.

Right. So the question is based on a false premise. It's usually the same camp that is for wealth distribution here that is for increasing foreign AID in 3rd world countries.
I don't mind foreign AID but I think we need to be smarter about how we go about it to try to maximize impact.

It is a false premise.
But there is the larger issue of 'myth of the other' that comes into play.
Example: You read an article about a plane that crashed in Oregon last night during a storm. 30 people died. Some were women and children.
Then, you turn the page and read another article. 100 people drowned when a ferry sank in Ethiopia. It was overloaded and leaky.
American readers will be much more upset with the former story than the latter. We think 'Hell, people in the 3rd world die from stupid crap every day'.
We relate to those in our own country.

quote:Indeed.
Right. So the question is based on a false premise.
That false premise concludes the wealthy who redistribute to less fortunate US citizens are greedy.
Meanwhile recipients of that redistribution, who do not in turn give any of their money to the world's far less fortunate people, are not considered greedy.

quote:Yeah but... poverty is a virtue. It cancels out the greed.
Meanwhile recipients of that redistribution, who do not in turn give any of their money to the world's far less fortunate people, are not considered greedy.

Wealth is already distributed, no need to call for it.
If the right has its way, though, it won't be distributed. One guy will end up with all of it eventually.

True. Humans want to greatest asset for the least amount of effort possible. If I can get paid not to work, then I won't work.
If I put great effort into a career and have to pay 70 percent of my income to taxes, I will choose not to work.
If I can get the government to take care of me while I produce fatherless children, then I will have sex all day and not work. Work requires effort and those people who sit on their arse and not make an effort to contribute to society should be given a one way ticket out of the United States.
