Ole boy finally bought his lower and has parts incoming from Palmetto (hopefully). The only problem is that he doesn't own any AR tools. Who can help?

Really a set of punches is helpful but not needed. A screwdriver, perhaps a pair or pliers is all that is needed...

A set of punches, a screw driver or hex driver to attach the pistol grip, and a castle nut wrench to attach the buffer and lock it in.

Oh you both on the list. At the top. I was hoping that y'all would see this thread and offer so I wouldn't have to ask you directly.

The roll pin tool seems helpful also. I don't have the wrench which seems to be a big help.

As long as you don't let burgeman actually do it, you should be fine. If he does it, it looks like you took a wire brush to the whole thing.

So I should tape the entire lower? Twice? I can do that.

Get the Tapco AR tool. It has a built-in castle nut wrench. Oh, and a bottle cap opener labeled "beer."

Absolutely. You can really mess up the finish installing the bolt catch roll pin. Better to be safe than sorry.

I built my lower using only a set of punches, a razor blade, a screwdriver and a small hammer. I tightened the castle nut the best I could then staked it.

I put some painters tape around the bolt catch roll pin as that one forces you to use a hammer and punch close to the side of the receiver. Other than an armorer's tool (which I only use for the castle nut for the stock) a good set of punches and a small hammer is about all you need. Oh and a scrap piece of 1/4" plywood is perfect for supporting the trigger well while driving in the punch of the guard. Without support you could bed the ears. Another word of advice is to be careful with the front pivot pin spring/detent as if it slips off your knife blade it will shoot across the room and also remember to put the hammer spring in the correct way. I had it backwards on one and the hammer didn't have enough force on the firing pin. Put the rifle together, went shoot and just went CLICK

Good luck, have you received shipping notification?

Cause I have not, and my CC was billed on 1/15/14.

I called 12 times yesterday, guess how many times I spoke to absolutely anyone at all...

I sent an email yesterday, guess how many responses I got...

I will never purchase another fricken item from these amateur people. They have no clue how to handle business. Oh the political climate? Bull shite, I can call numerous online firearms retailers and have a human pick up the phone on the first ring let alone after 12 calls.

ETA: This is my first build as well.

BCM Standard 16" M4 (SOCOM) Upper Receiver Group (was at my doorstep <5 days after order)

PSA "Stealth" Lower (no idea if I'll ever get it, I sure as shite paid for it though)

Palmetto State Armory Classic Lower Build Kit (see above)

I plan on using regular punches and some stuff I got around the house.

This dude's vids are pretty informative ITS Tactical

Drive a punch into the end plate so that it bulges into one of the notches in the castle nut. Helps prevent it from coming loose.

No. I just ordered on the 18th which was the weekend. Then there was a holiday yesterday so I imagine I have another week.
