Fight Club Digitally edited Scene

Spoilers below (If by some chance one of you daffy bastards has not seen Fight Club.)
Hadn't seen this posted. Some guy digitally removed Tyler Durden from the first fight scene in Fight Club. So now, you have Edward Norton standing there talking to himself, which.... You know.... LINKy

What is this scene about? Why is this a big deal, to edit out a character from a random scene from a random movie?
