Heading up to NYC for the Super Bowl. Need suggestions.

I need suggestions on places to eat and the best places to see. First time heading up to the Big Apple and want to see/do as much as possible but I have limited time their so I want to do the essential things. I know I can Google all this, and I have, but I want my OT brethren's advice from people who have actually been there.
I have about 3 days of free time in the city so the most I can do/see in those 3 days is what I'm looking for. Really looking for the best pizza, coffee, bakery, Chinese food, and deli's in town. Also which attractions and tourist sites are the best. I'll be staying with my old roommate in Brooklyn but working at the Meadowlands on game day. So, what all do you guys have? Thanks in advance for useful information.

Carmine's right off Time Square, make sure not to eat for 24 hours before getting one of their meals

I have heard that the observation deck at the Empire State Building isnt worth it and that I should hit Ellis Island instead of the Statue. Thats the stuff I'm looking for.

I recommend either BLT Prime or Sparks in terms of steakhouses....both excellent...all I got.

Only been once. Avoid Times Square. I'm sure someone on here can help better than me

I wouldn't exactly avoid Times Square...maybe walk around for a half hour or so. If OP hasn't been to a city as big as NYC it's kind of interesting to see the magnitude of the place. Nothing like it really anywhere.

As an avid Seinfeld watcher, I would have to visit Monk's if I were there but that's up to you.

Do you like art or history? There are some great art museums (Met, Whitney, Guggenheim, MoMA) and the Museum of Natural History.
I spent more than a few hours walking through Central Park and surrounding areas. I also ate at the Carnegie Deli because I had heard of it - not great.

Top of the Rock is your best bet for a good view, skip the Empire State Building.
Make sure to pack your skinny jeans if you are staying in BK.
ETA: Artichoke in the East Village is the best slice I've had here. I'm sure there's better but haven't found it.

Don't do any of this, if you can help it.

Was in New York City for Christmas and have been a handful of times.
Take the subway everywhere.
Go have dinner at the Oyster Bar in Grande Central Station.
Go to China Town & Little Italy.(bakeries, delies, etc)
Go catch stripped bass in front the Statue of Liberty. This is better than going to the statue IMO.

Plan on splitting the Monday after the game between the Met and Museum of Natural History. Taking the stroll through Central Park to get between the two. I'm planning on passing through Times Square but not spending much time their. Same with Rockefeller Center unless we go to the Top of the Rock. Is the ride out to Ellis Island and the Statue worth it? May try that Tuesday before flying out. I do enjoy history so I would imagine I would enjoy it but I'm curious how much time it would take.

I should also add I'm no OT baller, so steakhouses are probably a no go. Which is why I asked for pizza joints, bakery's, coffee shops, deli's, etc.

Catch the 7 line to the last stop Flushing-Main Street. Walk around for a few hours. Look for a van with Asians getting in it. It will bring you to Chinatown for $5, I think. It will be a social experiment of a lifetime. I have done this a few times. I'm still alive.
