It reminded me of a shite load of stories. Awesome stories. I don't know what the stature of limitations is, but I'm not gonna push it.

The main point of the story I heard was this.

The guy was AMAZED at how quick they not only found it, but ate every little golden kernel.

The way he put it, he put some corn out in a swamp behind his house, as a kid, years and YEARS ago. He figured he'd give them like a week to find it. Well, he goes back, and there's not a kernel left. Just solid duck feathers. So he says he rebated it. Came back about 3 days later this time. Ran about a hundred woodies out of there, but all the corn (he said was gone). So, he goes BACK to corn store, puts some out that evening, and went back the next morning.

Not sure what happened after that.

He probably killed an arse-load of them, then rebaited.

And for the record, you're under arrest.

There's a tiny pond overgrown with trees where we deer hunt. There are oak trees that drop acorns all around the pond. i've watched 50 wood ducks dive in while sitting on the deer stand next to the pond. We'd catch them flying in and out every once and a while. Absolutely no baiting. My uncle then puts a deer corn feeder in the food plot 20 yards away . Now we'd technically be outlaws.

Don't let a food plot with a feeder in it go under water with said feeder still on a timer.

The way he told the story, he now knows why it's illegal.

According to him, you've heard of mallards in the timber "getting stupid" when the sun's out right? Well, this dude said wood ducks flying into corn are ALOT stupider.

Like, 12 or 15 would come in (allegedly), the guy would let'em light, ground swat a wad of them, the survivors would get up, fly around, and come right back in.

They'll do that if you shoot them after dark on a roost too...so I heard.

I know a guy that use to cut sweet potatos stick them in a sack the week before the season started. He also would get sugar cane and stick them into the mud to make the water sweet. He also went to a pecan house and got ceushed pecan shells. He would throw that into the pond too.

Supposedly the ducks went crazy over that concoction.

Works well if there aren't infared cams.

Make sure it's in a sack too. Guy I know who is a game warden in Lake Charles area told me that flying over, a sweet potato looks like a watermelon with the magnificaion of the water.
