Season has come to a close. It was a great season in my area. I was fortunate enough to make 31 hunts with most hunts being 2 or 3 man blinds. Averaged around 5.3 ducks per hunter per hunt. 90 percent of ducks taken were either ringnecks or blue winged teal with a few canvasbacks, redheads, gray ducks and mallards mixed in. Ended the season with a bang, killing 9 limits on both Saturday and sunday (all ringnecks, but still fun) and closing it out with catching a basket full of catfish. Can't wait until next year! Until then, break out the fishing poles!

FYI, giving location might not be a good idea. You might want to edit that out...

ETA, Congrats on a good season.

In the late 90's and early 2000's we didn't see ringnecks, but mostly gray ducks and mallards. Ever since Katrina, we've been loaded down with ringnecks each year. Personally, I love shooting ringnecks. I love whistling ringneck wings breaking against a 20 mph north wind. Sounds like a jet taking off, very exciting!

Tried calling you yesterday, kept going to voicemail. Was going to see if you wanted to come hunt the basin with me and a few others.

Same in SWLA. We had decent hunting riight before and a few days after the strong cold front a couple of weeks ago. In the past week, the ducks seem to have left. Sat moring on a ride from Gueydan to south of Kaplan, we did not see a single duck. Returning to Gueydan we saw LOTS of ducks pouring into a field just west of Wright. But that was it. Rode from Gueydan to west of Lake Arthur, and we saw a handful of ducks. Thankfully, we were able to shoot some specks, otherwise it would have been an unproductive weekend.

Did okay, woodies and teal, we shot horrible. No big ducks though, one flock of grays that stayed high. May hunt south farm tomorrow but besides that the season is over for me. May do lil scouting for next year while the water is up.
