Strange events at kids basketball game

This was an 11-12 year old game with one team winning by 25+ with about 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Both benches had been cleared. Then the strangeness started.
A 30 second timeout was called by Team A which was winning big. Team B was the host team. Team A did not break their huddle when first called back to play by the officials. Team B was ready for play and was ready to inbound the ball under their own basket. The officials again blew the whistle and Team A still delayed getting back on the court.
The officials hand Team B the ball and they inbound and score an uncontested basket. Team A's coach calls a timeout and is obviously p-o'd. He proceeds to put his starters back in the game and full-court press. They score 8 straight points in about 45 seconds.
Team B's coach calls a timeout and yells over to Team A's coach and asks him "Is that enough?". Meanwhile, one of the officials gets into a heated discussion with a fan (parent) of Team A. The official tells the fan to take a seat in the bleachers (he was standing behind the bench). The fan refuses and the official proceeds to ask him to leave the gym.
At this point the director of the host team's league intervenes and tries to calm the official down and keep the peace by letting the parent stay. The official objects and takes off his whistle and leaves the gym.
I've seen many strange things happen at youth sporting events but this was a first. Anybody else have strange stories to share?

(Some youth sport coaches, officials, parents are out of control).

kinda fricked up that the league director won't back up his own officials.

He's a good guy but I was kind of surprised at that too. The official was a certified (patched) official and a fairly good and experienced one that was hired for this tournament.

You were right. And I posted this before the Sherman interview that really buried it.

Boys. Girls? Where?
I was at a biddy tourney last year and a riot broke out. Mainly b/c someone that got tossed from the stands was let back in

Yeah...not surprising to me anymore. The main reason I stopped coaching in general. And hell, a lot of times I caught more shite from my own players parents when their kids didn't get enough PT or position they thought should be played.
I do fee for the refs/umps of rec league associations. Most of the time they are younger people trying to learn how to officiate and usually take a lot of heat. Parents are out of control at times.

The league the team is in should fine the hell out of that school and make an example of them. I'll bitch and complain about refs as much as anyone but I would never step over the line like that and anyone that does should not be tolerated. The director should be suspended and fined as well.
It's peewee basketball, the only reason my son plays is to stay in shape for baseball and football.

The local biddy league that my kids plan in will turn off the scoreboard if the lead gets to 25+ like that in the 4th quarter. Everyone knows who won or lost but it allows the kids to continue to play basketball without trying to humiliate the other team. Plus the guy who runs the league will look at the coach of the team that is winning to make sure he knows to stop running press in the 4 quarter and maybe take the starters out as well. You can continue to play basketball with good defense and hustle while not trying to humiliate the other team.

lul. this arse hat thinks he is Bobby Knight. being a bad arse with a 11 year old basketball league. I would have kneecapped him

Exactly. After HE kept them in the huddle. The kids were instinctively trying to start walking away and get into position as he was continuing to talk to them.
