Just finished the series a couple of days ago. Very good show but with the hype it gets from this board, I think it was overrated. Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and Boardwalk Empire are all better shows..

Season 5 SPOILER:

The way Omar was killed was one of the dumbest fricking things I have ever seen a TV show do. I will not forgive the show for that. Incomprehensible.

no

the only "great" season BE has had was season three and that was mainly because of Gyp Rosetti.

One of my favorite TV characters in a show. I hated him so frickin' much. But such a great character.

MORE SEASON 5 SPOILERS

That explanation doesn't really change my opinion.

When he stands on that corner yelling about how Marlo isn't good for Baltimore, he doesn't seem like a legend anymore; he just seems sad and tired, as over the edge in his way as McNulty.

I disagree. He seemed invincible to me at that point. I would have liked to see some kind of show down with Marlo. Not some 6 year old put a bullet through his head like a skilled marksman.

frick. Also just realized that OP hasn't gotten this far. My bad, OP...S5 spoilers below.

Nah. It would've been nice had he gotten a respectable-ish death, but reflecting on Omar's death a bit made me appreciate it a lot more.

The whole point was that it could happen from anywhere. Omar was this larger than life, almost immortal character, but he was done in by a simple little kid who didn't even realize that he should be scared of Omar, so he wasn't, and he pulled the trigger without a second thought.

That's how easily it can happen when you are inside that kind of life...all it took was one kid, Kenard, finally not running when Omar was coming, and in the blink of an eye he was gone.

I hated it, but only because it was so un-Hollywood. I do, however, think it was incredibly realistic so I accepted it.

Sometimes it's annoying in these movies to see the hero from each side face off against each other with the rest of the armies circled around. I can only imagine how many times in real life one of them just got stuck by some random dude when he was engaged with another.

Hated it, but embraced it for its realism.

I thought it was incredibly unrealistic to think a small child can put a bullet wherever he wants with pinpoint accuracy.

This.

The little kid doesn't realize how difficult it is to just straight shoot someone.

Grown men were scared to death of Omar because he wouldn't hesitate - hence why he was never gunned down by an adult.

The kid was just a little punk (who got his arse beat by Michael for being a punk) and didn't realize the ramifications of pulling the trigger on someone.
