The Mercatus Center at George Mason University released the study earlier this week. The center counts among its key backers the Koch family, and conservative financier Charles Koch sits on the center’s board.
I would take this info with a grain of salt.

I don't know how many times ya'll have to hear this for it to sink in but here we go again....

according to the link the top 5 states in the best financial health are all red states and all, every last one of them, a net taker of federal tax dollars instead of a net contributor...the bottom 5, according the link, with the exception of Illinois, is just the opposite. If four of the bottom 5 were not supplementing the annual budgets of the top 5 it is pretty easy to understand that their positions would most likely flip flop....

Ya'll have to start being honest with yourselves....the Blue States finance the rest of the nation. Only Georgia and Texas is the exception to the rule that all Red States are net consumers of federal taxes while the only net contributors are Blue States. California, Massachussets and New York basically fund the federal government while the rest of the nation, particulalry the south, feed at the trough. I know it isn't fun to hear but the truth will set you free.

And don't ask for the link....if you have been on any of these types of boards for any length of time you have seen this informantion numerous times. If you doubt the veracity of this information do the research yourself....but like the lazy fricks in the red states who take and don't contribute you will no doubt rest and wait until it is handed to you....

Well, avoid my latest post in the police pension thread if you want to maintain this view of me.

hahahaha, so what you are saying is the people running the red states are smarter than the people running the blue states?

That's the only conclusion that can be drawn. The people running the blue states sure as Hell are "subsidizing" the red states out of the goodness of their hearts.

Hahahahahaha, I hear this shite a lot. I would suggest if the people in blue states don't like it they quit whining about it and do something about it.

Here's a couple of ideas:
1) Drastically lower federal taxes and curtail the fed govt's power and let the states fend for themselves.

or

2) Split the country in two and let us fend for ourselves that way.

That's a couple of ways the poor put upon blue states can really get us.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Well I guess your natural corollary implies that those on welfare are smarter than those work.

Because the poor tend to be Democrats, Democrats must be smarter than Republicans.

And you have to start being honest with yourself that the reason those Red states take those dollars in disproportionate fashion is to deal with the democrat underclass who are a disproportionate share of their population. Your point gets mentioned and refuted in every thread like this.

The shear size of states like California and New York, and the fact that they are financial centers independent of politics allows them to be a donor state to the federal government, in spite of their malignant policies.

You would think that people would look at the error aka California and figure out that massive regulations and high tax rates are a recipe for disaster, but then they go and elect a Socialist like Obama.

Not that Boehner and McConnell are really much better.

Look in the mirror. Blue states make money hand over fist off of government regulations. Iowa makes a fortune off of the ethanol mandate. Connecticut enriches itself through federal insurance laws and will make even more when the individual mandate is fully implemented. Delaware gets its money from the cozy relationship between the banks and the fed. New York City makes its money from the knowledge that the government will cover Wall Street's bad bets.

Those states would all go bankrupt tomorrow if we had a libertarian federal government. The claim that blue states are paying the bills is based on Enron accounting.

Hell break it down to cities that are in deep financial trouble and again it's one ran by stupid Democrats. And Greman, that argument don't jive in these cases.

I'd contend that the large number of dependents is part of the reason those states are red. We bear witness to the destruction, demotivation, and generational ruin it causes.

Giving your money to a "noble cause" sounds great... until you find yourself surrounded by the results.

yeah it's like people who have lived sheltered, upper/upper-middle class lilly white lives in private schools from ages 3-22 who then spout off pontifications and criticisms of how society/governments handle the poor
