Do you guys watch? Did you wrestle in school or have kids that do? You guys wish we had real wrestling in the SEC (outside of Mizzou)?

Can we make this a serious thread? Thanks.

I wish it got more TV time. I enjoy watching it but I only come across it when it's incorporated into MMA.

Great sport for kids. Helps with football players. No pros so very little prima donnas. Of course I am biased.

I help coach college wrestling . I'm a volunteer recruiter. Wrestling saved my life. Wish every school had wrestling especially uga , Texas , Florida , bama and lsu they would be good very soon.
Problem with sport is the marketing. The sport is represented by hicks from Iowa and Joel olsteen wanna bes. I talked to a film maker about doing a 30 for 30 on Jordan Burroughs he likes the idea but won't help the sport if Burroughs go on video acting like Joel olsteen compared to sharing how his mental toughness belongs in the same convo as Michael Jordan .
My buddy also wrestled in college with Burroughs so I know what's real and what's not

Burroughs is the Tom Brady/Payton Manning of wrestling right now though. Dude is a beast.

If you coach, you know that it is 80-90% between the ears that wins. You gotta want it. Strength and Technique gets you so far, then you have to just take it.

I know he is a beast. The problem is most wrestlers don't appeal to main stream for example Tom brands would scare and confuse everyone. Burroughs is wrestlings only shot to appeal to the main stream but if you see his twitter he sounds like tebow not brady. I hope Jordan realizes how manning and brady talk so I can make a 30 for 30 about him

I wish we'd had it at my school. I think I would have been good at it.

I wrestled as a Freshman in high school. It's a mans sports. However, there is just no support for it in the south. He'll, neither of my parents ever came to one of my matches.

Wrestled sophomore through senior year of high school. Absolutely kick myself for not starting earlier like my dad wanted. I fell in love with the sport. Worked 24/7 for it.

My coach was a second dad to me. He taught at our school from 9-12, then went and did surgery (general surgeon), and then would come coach wrestling after school. He loved the sport and almost no one on our team gave an effort. It was a shame, but he inspired me and he was a huge role model.

I club wrestled at Bama for awhile but it just wasn't organized and not enough interest.

I hope my kids wrestle one day.

Amateur wrestling is awesome.

Apparently, LSU Wrestling Club needs support.

Wrestled 6th-12th. Wrestling will be mandatory for any son I have. I don't care how good a father you are, wrestling will make them tough, responsible, and more self reliant.

I wrote a position paper in law school on the effects of wrestling from Title IX. Future is not bright outside of the strongholds in the NE and Midwest. Best thing for wrestling is a grassroots increase in demand from mma hopefuls and football wary parents taking place in California over the last decade spreading nationwide.

Absolutely one of the most if not the most physically demanding sport. There was a reason football players puked for a week when they came in after fb season. I wrestled some in hs but quit due to being a lazy teenager at the time. My brother won a state title. Such a great sport.
