LSU will be welcoming a wealth of talented high school prospects from around the country this weekend, including kicking, and currently committed prospect, Cameron Gamble.

Gamble is a WEAPON.

His ability to pin opponents DEEP in their own territory with his tremendous leg will be advantageous for the next four seasons.

Just recall the beginning of the 2010 season when LSU was failing to reach the 10-yard line on KO's before the insertion of Hairston into the lineup if you don't think it's important.

WHEN this kid learns accuracy and masters the ability to kick off the ground, he is going to be a great one.

Remember, this kid was hand picked by McGaughey.

can someone get this kid decent field goal posts to practice on?

Anyone who doesn't understand the contribution he can make in special teams, then they don't understand football as well as they think they do

And honestly I wouldn't make much of it that he wasn't his school's field goal kicker. I went to his high school (graduated in 2005 in case any of you want to know about how old I am) and even when I was there they played favorites for various reasons.

I'm not gonna look into it because I couldn't care less but if your parent has pull in these parts, their kid is going to play

As it turns out, we aren't pressed for numbers but even so he deserves an offer. Like WiseGuy said, if he can work on his accuracy, he could be one of our more key signees in this class

I have no problem with giving a scholarship to a kjcker. Ask the gumps how important a kicker is.

I don't mind giving a kicker a valuable schollie either - except perhaps in a situation where LSU just had a true freshman FG kicker do a bang-up job, combined with a kickoff specialist that is a true soph.

With Gamble and Quinn on this team my societal assumptions need to be calibrated.

Refresh my memory on the kickoff specialist.

Because if he couldn't beat out Hairston, who couldn't produce touchbacks as often as our opponents did, then no complaints from me on Gamble.
