Does anyone else disagree with some of the pot smokers on the OT who predict that it will be decades before we in the Bible belt get legalized weed?

I expect that within 18 months everyone will accept that Colorado and Washington State haven't fallen into anarchy.

As soon as that happens, money from Big Weed lobbyists will flow south, and will be too much for the politicians to resist.

Expect Big Weed to be open for business in the Deep South within 5-7 years.

Once that happens, law-abiding bourbon drinkers can switch to cannabis once in awhile, and our livers will be better off.

I think it'll move faster once people see that Colorado has so much money that they don't know what to do with it.

Once state legislators realize how much money is to be made from taxing it weed will be legalized. It will happen much sooner than later.

I think about 1/4-1/2 the states will legalize it in 2016 and the rest will in 2020.

There are so many hillbilly, backwoods bible beaters that still live in the 40's in this state.

It'll be 10-15 years before they all die off and then MAYBE they'll think about it.

There was a thread on a SWLA news page about hand scanners in a school. People compared it to being the mark of the beast and threatened to pull their kids out of school because of it.

Now, think about it. With morons like that in this state in that mindset, you REALLY think they'll legalize marijuana ANYWHERE close to Louisiana?

That's pretty optimistic. The South is full of a bunch of old fart voters pretty set in their outdated ways.

But when it does pass, if our shitty SHITTY roads aren't fixed up by the millions in new tax revenue, I'm moving.

I remember when La. was passing the gambling ordinance, and talked about how much revenue for the state it would bring, and how the money would be earmarked for improving education.

Good for you. That doesn't mean other people shouldn't be able to do as they please.

That being said, the only way legalization will pass in the South is if it's voted in by the people. By the "people" means the people that actually vote, who are unfortunately older folk who don't want legalization. If young people want to be able to smoke weed legally, GET OUT AND VOTE!

It may not be decades, but I don't see it happening in Louisiana within the next 5 years.
