Anyone know details of LSU player's gf who was runover on indian mounds,1985?

Talking with friend about this. I recall that in 1984 or 1985 the week of the Miss state (away) game an LSU players' gf was run over by a jeep on the indian mounds. LSU lost the game and some say it was partially due to this. I think the player was with the gf and just missed being killed, also think they never caught the drvier but that "people" knew who it was. Can anyone help with the facts- who was player, when did this happen, was gf killed, etc. Needless to say a very sad story.

I was at LSU when that happened. To be honest, I don't recall too man details other than it was some moron who was trying to drive over the mounds and hit and killed the girl on the back side.
I don't think it was a FB player's GF. I really don't recall that being part of the story.
I could be wrong, though. It's been a very long time since that happened.

I had a cousin who ran track for LSU who got hit by a car back in 1986 never caught the person who did it. This happened on campus too

It was in '84. I was a Gumbo photographer and one of my assignments was taking pictures of the temporary barricades around the Indian Mounds shortly after this event. Drunks driving over the Indian Mounds used to be a rather common occurance, but barriers were put up after that event which made this impossible.

Courtney Smoke - She was actually dating a Lambda Chi and was just fooling around with a football player on the Indian Mounds when a Jeep decided to take a ride over the Mounds. Football player got out of the way. The school put up the current barriers shortly thereafter.

Best friend was a Lambda Chi and I was getting the blow by blow at the time. I'm pretty certain that it was at night. There was a large picture of Courtney Smoke in that year's yearbook.

Don't think so Tim. I was there from 95-99 and the only barriers I remember seeing where to stop tailgaters from planting down on them.
